Temple Area

The temple is facing towards East side. On either side of the temple building are the big buildings of Agarshala (guest House). There is a big lake beyond the compound wall in front of the temple. At the entrance of the temple compound there is a big entrance door and on top of it is a Nagarkhana (room housing big drums and other musical instruments). The music is played thrice every day. In front of the temple there is a big Deepsthamba (big pillar with provision to hold lights). This Deepsthamba is lighted during the festival times and the beauty of it is beyond description.

Close to the main temple on the left is the temple of Lord Narayan which also has a murti of Lord Ganapati. Both the idols are carved out of stone. In front of it, on the left side of this temple is a big tree of Parijat flowers. At the base of the tree there is a small murti of the Goddess Shree Bara Vir Bhagavati. Nearby are two padukas (footwear) of an unknown sadhu. It is believed that probably these are the padukas of the saint-poet Krishnadas Shama.

In front of the Deepsthamba is a big rock (sheela) of the Kshetrapal (the person guarding the area). Similarly, there is a big rock behind the main temple, on the left side. This is known as Mharwachi Sheela (Ghost’s rock). Near to it is his sleeping place and on the side of the mountain there is a tree known as Mharwache Ped (ghost’s tree).

Near the entrance to the temple on the left side, at a little lower level, there is a small temple of Lomsharma, the Mul Purush ( first man) of kaushik gotra who had installed the murti of Shree Shantadurga devi in Keloshi. He is worshipped and offered puja daily and there is a nandadeep (non-stop burning oil lamp) in the temple.

At a little distance away on south of the temple the muth of Guru Goudpadacharya of the G.S.B. community is situated. The Swamiji is known as ‘Kaivalyapur Muthadhish’ (Head of the Kaivalyapur Muth). ,p>On the same side the resting place of ‘Shree Jotker’, the Mul Purush of the Panandikar family is located.
